Good that you're attending regularly as quite a lot happens in this unit. Obviously those who are not attending, won't read this but if you do, be nice to see you more. Please keep ypur module folders up to date and use the categories as shown on this blog, down the side. I expect to see all the handouts and your comments from the sessions, as well as the blog comments I asked you to make about the mag articles, and can design research and dev. There have been some good blog comments with interesting links, but quite a few of you haven't done it yet. This is a useful tool to build your confidence gain more knowledge and may help towards work experience.
Well done with the cans! I think they look good in Room 1 and look forward to the last ones getting there. If you can make time please try and see the link here http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00vhw1d/Horizon_20102011_Is_Seeing_Believing/
It's a programme about seeing and how the brain works, which fits in with the Friday stuff, but is very useful food for thought. It won't be up there for long so try and catch it.

Good programme, couple of interesting comments and ideas could come out of it. Wrote the quote down as i watched it so i could write it here, really liked the statement that - "we should no longer think of our senses individually, but as one". We are quite segregated in our approach to design sometimes. Quite a strange idea that one day maybe we could make a up a poster using smells or colours that make us taste/smell/see the product were selling - can you imagine that with marmite. My favourite bit was with the coloured drinks and the chefs, showed how easily we can be mislead by simple things but it also looked quite playful too.
ReplyDeleteI don’t know if this will interest anyone but I think it links in well with the horizon video on how we perceive things. Rory Sutherland talks about how we perceive a product and shows how to change the way we see them positively without actually adding anything.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to skip to the best bit I recommend 11:56 where Rory talks about an interesting advertising ploy with Shreddies, almost along the same lines as the Gap logo story from Tuesday.
